WHAT IS A CAPACITOR?

A capacitor is a passive (a component that consumes but does not produce energy) two terminal electrical component. In building a sound system for your car, you would want to use a capacitor for a couple of different reasons.

WHY DO I NEED ONE?

The main reason a capacitor is always recommend, is for power reserve. The capacitor stores energy and releases it very quickly to the amplifier(s). How does this help? It’s very simple: Music is dynamic, no matter what type you listen to. The dynamics in musical content can vary from soft voices, and very quickly transition to thundering bass notes. These moments are where the benefit of having a capacitor is heard. The amplifier requires a constant amount of steady power to function efficiently and power the speakers. A capacitor will keep the power going to the amplifier consistent and stabilized, which means a better sounding system. IMPORTANT: The remote output of the head unit is connected to the remote turn on of the capacitor. The capacitor will not function if the remote wire is not connected to your head unit.

CHARGING THE CAPACITOR

First make sure that all the connections according to the diagrams in the instruction manual are correct. Pick up the cable coming from the POSITIVE (+) battery terminal. Place the supplied charging resistor between the end of this cable and the positive terminal of the capacitor. The capacitor will begin charging. Charging generally takes 5 to 60 seconds. During charging, the voltage shown in the 3 digit display will rise rapidly, then slow as it approaches the voltage of your vehicle’s battery. When fully charged, the display voltage will stop rising. If you have a voltmeter, you can first measure the voltage of your car battery. Then you will know with accuracy that the capacitor is fully charged. CAUTION!! During charging, the resistor will become hot. This is normal, but exercise caution during the charging process. After charging is complete, remove the resistor from the incoming positive cable, and IMEDIATELY connect it to the positive terminal of the capacitor.

Homemade Modified Sine Wave Power Inverter(350/500w)

A very nice, professional looking, compact 12v power inverter that I made(including the housing), which uses a large microwave oven transformer which I modified using 10ga stranded wire(See my video list for a video on MOT rewinding), a 555 & 4017 mosfet driving circuit(modified sine wave), 12v cooling fan, HV power indicator LED, inrush limiting relay circuit, and low DC input voltage piezo alarm(10.6v). You can refer to my video list for all these add-ons to this unit. The unit is fairly quiet, and can power up to 350W using the lower amperage mosfets I currently have installed. When I switch to higher amperage mosfets, increase the size of a few wires, and swap out the fuse, I will then be able to power up to 500 watts intermittently using my large microwave oven transformer. Below is the link to the circuit which I used to drive the transformer. The circuit uses a 555 to create the pulses just like in my other inverter video which you can find a link to in this video. I also added a 36V zener across each mosfet's Drain & Source for extra mosfet protection. I used an lm7809 for the vreg. Output on the cd4017 is 1/4 of the 555's pin# 3 frequency output. Set 555 Pin #3 at 240hz.

REVIEW and BUY: G1W-C Full HD 1080P H.264 Capacitor Model Cam – No Battery Dashcam

I uploaded an actual 3 minute video that the DVR made here:

Notes: It can record from 1MP to 12MP and the quality is AMAZING! You can press pause at any time and see license plates and house numbers because each video frame is a real single photo taken at 12MP and the quality is just amazing! The mount that you see on my window is stuck with tape and is from my previous DVR that was a complete different model and company. This time, i did my research and homework and found this awesome car DVR. The LCD shows much info. The bottom shows the current date and time. The top of the LCD shows how long the video has been recording for. I set mine up to record at 12MP and to create a new video file every 3 minutes. Each file is about 290MB. On the 32GB SD card, i can fit 5 straight hours of driving on it. For me, that is 5 days of driving to and from work. If i turn down the quality from 12MP to maybe 8MP, i could get maybe9 hours of straight video or even more. But you can choose the quality from 12MP, 11, 10, 9 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1MP and even lesser quality like VGA and stuff. When the card gets filled up, the cam starts deleting the oldest files first one by one and replacing them with newer video files. Also, at any time, you can press the REC button and this changes the am from video mode to Digital Camera mode and you can take HD photographs. Just make sure you put the DVR back into video mode when you are done. Tech stuff: 12MP records in 1920×1080 at 12275kbps data rate and 30fps and the audio is 512kbps mono channel at a sample rate of audio of 32kHz. Files are saved to disc in .mov files.
